How have benefited from your participation in the EBL?
I can’t imagine my career today without it being rooted in the EBL. When I started in banking, I didn’t know how to be a banker! I looked to others for examples of best practices, how to engage with our customers in a meaningful way, and how to give back to our communities. To me, what makes the EBL great is the members: we are to each other business development opportunities, mentorships, lifelong friendships… it represents all the best aspects of being a banker.

How have benefited from your participation in the EBL?
The EBL has led me to opportunities I never knew were possible. They allowed me to have a seat (voice) at the table at the Washington Summit, which has built my confidence in all aspects of my career and personal life. Each of us plays a different role within our banks, and we are all leaders. The Leadership Conference gives us tools to be successful not only for our customers but for our peers. The connections that are made through the EBL’s networking events such as Burgers with Bruce set you up for success. Hearing stories from bankers at all levels and learning from their journeys has shown me that I can reach my professional goals. Participating in our financial literacy programs brings hope to our banking future that a new generation of bankers will lead us to success. Being a part of the big picture and seeing growth within others is why I am honored and proud to be part of the EBL.

How have benefited from your participation in the EBL?
As much as bankers compete for business in a geographic region, we cooperate even more. EBL gives me a chance to meet, get to know, and coordinate with leaders from nearly every bank in the state of Virginia. We work together to staff not-for-profit boards, coordinate credit syndication, and frequently come together to support acute charitable needs in our geographies. Additionally, EBL allows us a chance to reach future Virginia bank leaders in a coordinated way.
