Part 1: Elder Fraud Meetings AI and Romance Scams at
Banks
(co-hosted with the American Bankers Association)
Session Description:
Elder fraud is accelerating in 2026 and getting harder to detect.
Today’s scams combine social engineering with AI-generated
personas, deepfake voices, and always-on digital engagement. At
the center: pig butchering schemes that build trust over time and
drain victims of their savings.
With regulators keeping fraud in focus, financial institutions need to adapt quickly. That means recognizing new scam patterns, spotting behavioral red flags earlier, and equipping frontline teams to act.
This session breaks down the latest tactics targeting older adults—and what your team can do right now to catch them sooner.
- How elder fraud scams are evolving (including pig butchering)
- The most common red flags to watch for
- How scammers use technology and social engineering together
- Simple ways to train staff to spot and stop fraud earlier
Part 2: Bold Intelligence: AI’s Expanding Role in AML
Session Description:
Artificial intelligence is reshaping financial crime
prevention—strengthening compliance efforts while also
introducing new risks. This session explores AI’s dual role in
today’s BSA/AML environment, from enhancing investigations and
detection through tools like machine learning, GPT, and Ask
Abrigo to the ways bad actors are exploiting AI through
deepfakes, synthetic identities, and other emerging threats.
Attendees will participate in a roundtable discussion to gain
practical insights into how institutions are adopting AI
responsibly, along with the guardrails and ethical frameworks
needed to protect customers and stay ahead of evolving risks.
- Peer discussion on leveraging AI to enhance efficiency and consistency
- Understanding emerging AI drive threats
- Practical guardrails for responsible AI use
Part 3: Defensible AI in Financial Services: How to Operationalize AI Safely and Effectively
Session Description:
Artificial intelligence is becoming a priority across financial
institutions, with growing pressure from boards and leadership
teams to move from exploration to implementation. While the
industry continues to highlight AI’s potential, the real
challenge is operational. Financial institutions are not
struggling to find use cases. They are struggling to determine
which ones they can confidently implement and stand behind in a
regulated environment.
This session focuses on how community banks are actually approaching AI adoption today, where implementation is gaining traction, and why some initiatives move forward while others stall. We will examine how institutions are evaluating AI through the lens of explainability, governance, and risk, and what that means for day-to-day decision-making in lending, fraud, and compliance.
You will learn:
- Where AI is delivering practical value today and why some use cases move forward while others stall
- A clear framework for evaluating AI based on explainability, control, and defensibility
- Practical steps to move from experimentation to real implementation without increasing risk
- Understanding of an AI Readiness Assessment
