VBA Elects New Officers
Congratulations to the 2025-2026 Chairman and Chairman-Elect

The Virginia Bankers Association (VBA) elected new officers for its 2025-2026 board of directors during the VBA Annual Business Meeting at the MBA|VBA Joint Convention today.

The VBA is honored to have the following individuals serve as officers of its board of directors:

Chairman Tom Cherry

Tom Cherry is president and chief executive officer of C&F Financial Corporation and C&F Bank. His career with C&F began as chief accounting officer in 1996 followed by chief financial officer from 2004 through 2016.  He worked for Price Waterhouse LLP prior to its merger with Coopers and Lybrand before joining C&F. Tom was named president of C&F Bank in 2014, appointed to the Boards of Directors of C&F Financial Corporation and C&F Bank in 2015, and became chief executive officer in 2019.

Tom has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Old Dominion University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the College of William and Mary.

 

 

Chairman-Elect Sherri Sackett

Sherri Sackett is the CEO of Select Bank. As a founding member of Select Bank, Sackett has extensive experience across all areas of banking, including commercial lending, market development, and serving as Chief Operating Officer. With over 25 years in the industry, Sackett established two de novo banks by organizing capital raises and obtaining necessary regulatory approvals. Prior to joining Select Bank, Sackett was a senior executive at Community First Bank in Lynchburg before it was acquired by American National Bank, now Atlantic Union Bank. Sackett was appointed to the Boards of Directors of Select Bank Financial Corporation and Select Bank in 2021 and became Chief Executive Officer in 2023.

Sackett holds a degree from the University of North Carolina and graduated from both the Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management at the University of Virginia and the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University, where she currently serves on the Board of Trustees and President of the school.

As chairman-elect, Sackett is slated to become VBA Chairman in June 2026.
