The VBA, in conjunction with Crowe Horwath LLP, will present a 2-day Internal Audit Seminar for those involved in the audit function in the bank.

Topics will include:

About the Instructors

Michelle Beard, CPA, Partner, Crowe Horwath LLP
Michelle Beard is a Partner in the Risk Consulting practice and has more than 17 years of experience providing risk consulting to financial institutions. Her primary area of expertise is community bank internal auditing, with a significant background in accounting and financial reporting.

Michelle has specialized in the following areas: risk-based internal auditing and fraud investigations, including facilitation of annual risk assessment process and Audit Committee reporting and financial statement audits of registered and private companies, including financial reporting reviews. She has also consulted on projects in which she provided oversight of a bank’s quarterly financial statement preparation and disclosures for filing with the SEC and assisting in development of management and Board of Directors reporting. She has also specialized in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program development and related reporting.

Michelle’s area of expertise includes: Internal Audit, Audit Services, Consulting Services, Sarbanes-Oxley 404 Compliance, and Fraud Investigation. She serves as the Dean of the College of Risk, Governance and Control for our Risk Consulting practice’s training curriculum and also as the solution leader for internal audit Quality Assessment Reviews.

Michelle holds a B.A. in Business Administration, Accounting from University of Notre Dame. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a member of the IIA.

Machelle Rinko, Senior Manager, Bank Internal Audit Practice, Crowe Horwath LLP

Machelle Rinko is a Senior Manager in the Northeast Risk Consulting practice and is responsible for managing full scope and co-sourced internal audits, Regulatory Compliance (primarily 12CFR9), SSAE16 reviews for Trust Operations, Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404, Quality Assessment Review, and annual risk assessment engagements. Machelle’s clients have ranged from small community banks to large, multi-billion dollar, multinational financial institutions.
Ms. Rinko has over 24 years of experience providing operational and regulatory risk consulting to financial institutions, including more than 9 years as an internal auditor with regional and national institutions; her primary are of expertise is internal auditing, including a significant background in lending, including loan servicing and asset based lending.

Machelle also serves as a Senior Engagement Manager. She is responsible for annual engagement planning, client communications and coordination and overall technical and quality assurance for individual internal audit segments. Machelle works with management to develop annual risk assessment and internal audit plans. She works closely with the engagement executive on final client deliverables, as well as Audit Committee communications and deliverables.

Ms. Rinko is a Subject Matter Expert –Operations, Risk Assessment, and Sarbanes Oxley Implementation and Compliance. Machelle holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Youngstown State University. She is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Fiduciary & Investment Risk Specialist (CFIRS) and Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

All cancellations will be charged a $25.00 administrative fee. Cancellations received less than 72 business hours before the program will be charged a $75.00 administrative fee plus any additional fees associated with the training. Substitutions are allowed prior to beginning of course.
